“Our goal,” their website explains, “is to remove the burden of cleaning and allow those recovering from surgery, in active treatment, or in hospice to focus on their health and spending valuable time with loved ones.”

Why is a clean home important for cancer patients?

We believe that a clean home is important for everyone! However, there are some specific reasons that cancer patients benefit from cleaning.

First, some cancers and some treatments for cancer can weaken the immune system. It’s harder to fight off a cold, an infection, or a foodborne illness.

Beyond that practical need, a clean home can be a sanctuary for cancer patients and their caregivers.  The sense of peace you feel when your home is clean can make a difference to your mood and even your mental health.

At the same time, cancer patients and their caregivers can easily feel overwhelmed by basic cleaning tasks. Cleaning for a Reason allows patients and their families to focus on their health instead of on housekeeping chores.

We’re glad to be able to share the good news about this valuable organization.
